German cavalry 1914
« on: July 23, 2016, 02:23:38 PM »
German cavalry in 1914 often are seen in photos with the rifle slung over their shoulders. Did they abandon the rifle case during the campaign, or continue to use it?  When did they abandon it?

Also is it true that troopers had the sword on the right because they carried the lance, but everyone else (officers, musicians) had the sword on the left?

Thanks.
