Infinity Yu Jing
« on: July 24, 2016, 04:40:12 PM »
Something of a departure from my usual fantasy, post-apoc or Wild West projects. For some time the Infinity range of miniatures has caught my attention, super detailed but very fiddly/delicate looking, something that always held me back from buying any. Wanting something completely different to work on and with a new Infinity starter set looming I took a leap and bought a few minis to see if I could paint them to an OK standard before committing to the box set.

I was surprised how sturdy this Sun Tze mini was, and particularly surprised how much of a joy to paint it was. I was expecting to hate painting it due to all of the detail but it never seemed a chore and I got it done over a few evenings. I'm not overly happy with the Orange but it's good enough to make me want to buy more.

Also painted up an advertisement hoarding. When I get around to making terrain, it will be a bit more battered and grimy than the usual.

Brilliant! I got a few of these for my 2000AD project and I found them a joy to paint. Detailed....yes, but the paint seems to flow nicely into it all. It makes me wish I could find uses for some of the rest of the range.

Well if that's not an OK standard I don't know what is. He looks fantastic so it looks like you should be buying many more.  I look forward to seeing them.

Thanks chaps. I'll definitely be getting more. The Yu Jing have an awful lot of models I'd like to paint and I'm looking forward to playing the game and having a completely different terrain project than those I'm used to.

Lovely model, well done!  :D

I know what you mean about the orange though - I think it's because the shading wash has left it looking relatively grungy in its tone compared to the overall feel of the model. If you evened it out a bit with a few thin layers of plain orange to return it to a "cleaner" look, it would probably fix that. ;)

Thanks.

And yeah, that's exactly my issue with the Orange, it's too dirty because of the wash and my method of painting. I did try bringing it back on the chest plate but it wasn't very successful so I washed it down again. I think I'm too impatient when it comes to painting so doing a couple of thin layers never appeals to me. One day I'll learn to take my time lol
