Acrylic for Huns
« on: 27 July 2016, 06:42:52 PM »
I had a quick question as I'm prepping those Hun nobles for Aëtius' bodyguard unit: which acrylic best captures the Hun flesh tone? I use mostly Foundry paints and have all their flesh tones. The 'Dusky Flesh' may work, but seems more like the skin tones I saw while on vacation in Crete last year than steppe peoples. Their 'Oriental' tone seems a bit too far eastern, I'm skeptical as it seems too yellow but haven't tried it with any inks yet. The 'Near Eastern' is definitely that - Levant and Semitic tribes.

So I was curious what folks may recommend? I've seen Vallejo's flesh tone set advertised but am not sure if I would be buying the same as the Foundry paints I already have.

Thanks for any advice you may have.

I have used the Foundry Dusty Flesh although I have changed the triad and mixed to get my own results. Not sure how accurate this is however if you check the links below it will give you an idea of what you could use the paints you already have for:

I also used Foundry Middle Eastern flesh for the Sassanids, the colour may also suit your needs.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try experimenting with the Dusty Flesh and maybe a tiny bit of Oriental Flesh for the highlights. I hope that works. I've seen some pictures of Hun figures that look perfect, I'm just not sure which paints were used.
