Mud Wagon in 15 mm?
« on: July 30, 2016, 03:02:32 PM »
Does anyone make a mud wagon in 15 mm?  These are wagons with undercarriages similar to the famed Concord stagecoach (what most of us thing of when we hear stagecoach) but the top is rather more pedestrian, a flat top with canvas roll up sides, almost like a jail wagon but with the bars.

Come to think of it, a jail wagon in 15 mm would be good, too.  And a hearse with the fancy 'circus' head dress on the horses.

But, again, a mud wagon?  They were probably much more common in the west than the very expensive to buy Concord stagecoaches.

Maybe the passengers felt mostly like that. Can't imagine to travel by these coachs for days or weeks (read something of 24 days for a eastcoast to Frisco trip) on mudroads.

To go back to topic:
I don't know a manufcturer for 15mm wagons. But: How about building one from scratch? But at 1:120 scale it will be very tiny.

Actually I am in planning to build a mud waggon for DMH (1:56) it's tiny enough for me.

You might be able to use the Bluemoon buckboard for the basis of a conversion.

Unfortunately the buck board doesn't have the right suspension.  I'd have to start with a stagecoach if I were to scratch build a mud wagon.  Or build the suspension - that would be a real chore.  Just not sure I want to cut off the top of a stagecoach - but it is a thought.  Would need to have some use for the top of the stagecoach, though.

Museum Miniatures do a range of 15mm wagons. There may be something you can adapt.

BTW 15mm is usually considered to be 1:100 these days, not 1:120
