Shako II 15mm
« on: 03 August 2016, 12:18:51 AM »
A pal and I had a Napoleonic Bash last night. Considering the last time we played was about two or even three years ago using Shako I, the rules came back pretty quickly. Not many pics, enjoying it to much!

The D4s are Div nos. The D6s you see are Div Initiative dice.

The counters are Blue/ yellow= Staggered. Green/ White = Artillery fired this turn. Red = Failed Volley and Fallback. Green on cav = Blown.

French vs Austrian
Deployment. We both decided against better judgement to use 5 Divisions each. In doing this we were taking Div Morale at losing 2 units!

Frecnh Cav Div (Right Flank)

1st, 2nd and reseve Divs (Centre)

3rd Div (Left Flank)

Austrian Right

Austrian Centre

Austrian Left

Initial Moves

One of the central French divs move in!

French 2nd Div one move away from contact.

French left getting staggered by artillery

Lots of Cav Melees

Centre, sees the Austrians starting to buckle

French 2nd divs Elite punch a hole in the enemy's line!

French 3rd div taking on Austrian left.

The end game finished with the Austrian centre starting to buckle with divisional morale test causing 2 demoralised divisions
If it isn't enjoyable, it isn't gaming!

Agreed, great looking game. Nice to see so many old Minifigs in action, still (imho) the best figures for Napoleonics.

Shako is a good set of rules, but am I the only one who feels v1 was better than v2?
More brutal, and less forgiving of mistakes.
They also didn't have the very nice 'large battle' rules or the SYW rules in the second edition of the rules.

Minifigs Napoleonics were the first figures I purchased. Still all have their bayonets after thirty years of campaigning!

Shako II have streamlined the rules somewhat. I enjoyed playing both sets. Less house rules with II

Another Napoleonic Bash against Harry's Austrians. This time the forces were a third larger than the previous game

Great looking games!
Our group plays Shako II regularly and have done many large battles with 4000+ 28MM figures.
We are fortunate in that our group includes Chris Leach, co-author of Shako II.
It's a really good set of rules.

Cheers,
Thomas

It's actually my preferred set. Have played GDB a few times but did not get on with them.
