Otherwise, he might consider using our rules for this whole "A British Civil War in 1938" thing which seems to be all the latest rage.

EDIT: Darn, what a quick fellow he is.

Personally, I´d be happy as usual! Additionally, since you still have predominantly older-type weapons, you could plainly use the existing rules, and maybe use the Spanish Civil War lists as a base to create English army lists

I´m currently working on some very, very rough concepts to adapt T&T to WW2, but I think the original rules would work just fine for such a conflict as the 3ECW. By the way, why 3rd ECW? I thought you Brits only had one back in the 1640s...

I would support it - if I can get good pictures of painted troops, I would create some custom unit cards for the 1938 ECW.

Chris, two Civil Wars in the 1640s (that usually are counted as one), another in the 1650s. Plus King Billy vs. James II in the 1680s, and countless medieval bust-ups too that for some reason aren't 'officially' called civil wars.


So is this new ECW thing that seems to be bandwagon of the week not a set of rules, then? I had assumed that it was.

Here´s to me inconsiderate Continental European! Shamefully, I have to admit that I thought the civil war was one more or less coherent phase with some lulls thrown in. And on the William of Orange thing, I apparently misremembered it as more of a coup d´etat rather than a full-blown civil war? But I´ll read up on it, I promise. On the medieval thing, of course you should consider "The Wars of the Roses" a civil war in all but name... somehow, I tend to associate the term with the (early) modern age.

William of Orange's war was fought in Ireland, so as to not inconvenience the English population, who had had quite enough civil wars for one century by then, thank you very much. 

Certain sections of the population still celebrate the battles and sieges of this war, rather too loudly for certain other sections' liking.

I know what you mean, and yet we still talk about Roman civil wars. I guess it is just that folks weren't 'civilised' in the Middle Ages.

...and just before that is the Monmouth Rebellion that ended at Sedgemoor.  Not forgetting the Bishops' war, the Scottish invasion and the Irish rebellion that ocurred before 1642.

I´d be tempted to do a Deutsches Expeditionskorps first, what with Anglian´s lovely Panzer I and that Neubaufahrzeug... but seriously, that concept is most intriguing. I´ve still got two Mk VI light tanks lying around which could certainly be pressganged for such a project.
