These pictures shows the initial setup of the game.
Game was set in a fictional North African country torn by civil war.
PMC company was hired by local government to transport captured weapon smuggler off country for questioning and sentencing by international authorities.
On the way to evac point car transporting that prisoner got ambushed and damaged with well placed IED set by local warlords gang hired by smugglers accomplices to free him or in the worst case to kill him to avoid possible leaks of sensitive information about international weapon smuggling he posses.
At the start of the game PMC player had 3 operators in the car under his direct control.
They had two options:
1. Wait for reinforcements from base. They needed to contact the base using damaged radio in the car which required to spend an action by one of the operators and rolling 4+ to succeed.
2. Trying to get in direct visibility zone of that base (20 inches) on foot.
After one of these conditions was met PMC player will get full control over his forces located at the evac base.
Opposition was present by militias under command of one of the local warlords.
At the beginning of the game they had 6 ambushers on the table divided by two groups and set on both sides of the road.
Additional militia forces will arrive later in the course of the game in random numbers and arriving from the random table edges.
Both sides had possibilities for reinforcements tough PMC reinforcements were limited to artillery and mortar barrages directed by RT specialist located at the evac base.
Contractors decided that the best course of actions for them is to stay in the safety of the armored car and wait for reinforcements to arrive.
At the beginning of the second turn they were able to contact the base and requested reinforcements.
In the meantime ambushers began to approach the car from both sides shooting aimlessly and for most part harmlessly at the car.
Machine gunner from the base was able to completely wipe out one of the initial groups of ambushers and the second group was pinned down by the combined fire of car crew.
It seemed that things are going pretty well for contractors until the next militia group has arrived.
One of the militias guys armed with SMG was able to run closer to the car and make an impressively successful attack at it.
He has hit the car with all of his bullets and all of his hits were directed at the car passengers. One of the contractors has failed his save roll and was taken out of action.
Most of that militia group was also killed in return fire from contractors.
Two of the contractors from the main base run to a car stationed at the base so they can bring help to the stranded guys in the first car.
Another militia group has arrived this time they carried RPG with them.
Militias had a streak of good luck as as they were able to hit the car with first RPG rocket.
All of the car passengers survived but the car was set on fire and one of the contractors panicked.
Panicking guy has decided that he had enough and run off to abandoned store located at the side of the road
Second contractor was much more brave or reckless as he took prisoner with him and began to retreat in the direction of the evac base shooting at the approaching militias in the process.
Meantime car sent from the base closed in going on top speed. It was actually a pretty dramatic moment as both sides had a very good chances to win the game at this point.
On the other part of the table things were going to get interesting as well.
Militia marksman arrived and began a sniper duel with contractors sniper located at the top of one of the base buildings.
In another streak of good luck militia marksman killed his opponent but was shoot down by the machine gunner from the base.
Several more militias appeared but were also killed by the base defenders.
One of the militias rushed into melee with retreating contractor to slow him down until the last group of militias leaded by militia warlord arrives.
No one of them was able to beat his opponent and so they remained locked in melee.
Meantime panicked contractor was shot down by one of the last militias from initial group when trying to hide in the store.
Car from the base has almost arrived but there was last militia machine gunner standing on its way.
Calling what happened next #luck# will be pure understatement.
Militia machine gunner needed 6+ to hit the fast running car. there were 4 of 6 rolled to hit and car lost its tires and engine in one spectacular moment.
This roll is effectively finished the game for mercenaries. Last group of militia arrived and started shooting at immobile car killing both of the passengers in process.
Contractor who was trying to lead prisoner to base car was killed in melee with machete wielding militia Warlord and smuggler was freed from his captors and and left the battlefield with all possible haste.
There was enough losses for contractors to pass moral check which was promptly failed.
Contractors evacuated and militias began to celebrate their victory.
Excellent game with a lot of Hollywood style action moments and cliffhangers.
Very nice opponent playing contractors. I had a lot of fun and hope that we will be able to play another game soon.
Tough i must admit that i was way too lucky with my dice rolls than usual otherwise the game most likely have ended quite differently for my militia hordes.
