Movement trays for GW slotta bases
« on: August 15, 2016, 12:02:10 PM »
I've been painting some GW Winged Lancers, metal riders on plastic horses, I've always thought that this was a bad idea as it makes the completed model top heavy and prone to falling over, this condition is made worse with the Lancers as some of them are lead and they have a wing on there back making them even more likely to fall over.  So the question is.  Does anyone make a movement tray for GW slotta bases, where you can fix the miniatures in with small magnets?  If they are not available what do you do to fix your GW miniatures into the movement tray.
Thanks

How about getting yourself the (old?) plastic movement tray set from GW, which will obviously give you the right dimensions, and then add a magnetic sheet to the inside of the tray and do the same to the underside of the bases. Heck; you could even glue some nuts or washers to the bottom of the bases and let the magnetic sheet do all the work.

Alternatively, add some metal sheet (no aluminum, obviously) to the tray and fit some rare earth magnets to the bases. In fact; that would most probably be the way I'd go...
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Hi Daeothar,
Thanks for the post but I was hoping for a quick and easy method, from a one stop shop and what you've proposed doesn't fit the bill ;)
Thanks
