First MDF project - paint now or paint when finished?
« on: 25 August 2016, 02:38:48 PM »
Used MDf as a basing material for ages, but now going to try my hand at a few buildings.

Do I paint or basecoat while still in the panel or after I glued it all together?

I always do after...but Micro Art Studios did a tutorial on basecoating them on the sprue:

My advise is to basecoat on the sprue - Also depending on the surface detail and type of building. I'd recommend a light spray of textured effect spray.

I generally do a lite priming on the panel just to stop any warping that can happen with glue.  After that is set I will prime properly once it is put together.

When you make buildings and want to play inside it could be easier to paint them before sticking them together. Sometimes I was not amused to paint the inside after complete fixing it. So, only outside no problem, but with inner rooms easier first paint.
