Card Shoes for Various Card Sizes?
« on: September 01, 2016, 02:17:41 AM »
Does somebody make 'card shoes' for various sizes of cards with card sleves, and various 'deck' sizes, please?

Like, for instance, FFG's now 3 sizes of cards for Star Wars Armada. And the Dreadball deck. And Pulp Alley cards. All kinds of board games. Etc.

I can mock some up from cardboard myself, but it would save me time and effort if there were ready-made solutions out there (even laser-cut MDF kits or the likes).
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

By card shoe, do you mean a multi-sized deck box?

There are a bunch of "deluxe" style deck boxes which feature trays (intended for dice etc.) but often with various components/compartments.  Is that what you're looking for?

I use business card holders like these - just search on eBay - a good cheap option

No dear, they are not toys, they are models

I was thinking more in the line of a 'card holder' that keeps the deck stacked nicely face down, while allowing one card be drawn at a time. Something akin to the gadgets they use for cards in casinos ( https://www.google.dk/#q=card+shoe ), but fitting the cards we use in our games (and perhaps a bit simpler).

Well, I guess it is time to dig out cardboard, craft knife, and glue, then  :)  - I have an idea for a simple design that I can try out!

Ah, okay, so a deck holder.  Gotcha.  I know I've seen MDF inserts for almost every large board game available, but I don't think I've seen those in particular.  A lot of games produce them as add-ons for their own games.  Shouldn't be too hard to make!

EDIT: You're looking for these, but in special sizes?  Maybe someone makes one which is fully adjustable?

Hmmm, yes they would be usable, especially if available in sizes fitting the card-sleeves (or adjustable, of course).

If it rains tomorrow, I may be able to mock up a paper model of the design I have in mind for DIY deck holders (I am in the middle of a rather large garden project that has to be nurtured if the weather permits it).
