New Bronze age Greeks by Eureka

In a fit of enthusiasm for all thing Bronze and Greek I ordered some samples of the new Eureka figures.

A comparison with some Foundry.



At the moment the range seems to consist of 5 different troop types both in at ease and attacking poses.
Two different Nobles wearing armour.
A Dendra armoured officer wearing a mentally huge lion skin.
There are also 4 lovely female civilians and a male priest.
Finally a nice but large chariot.
The figures are really well and subtly sculpted and are of quite unusual subjects.

Now that looks interesting : beautiful figures as you say, and nearly seamlessly compatible with Foundry - which is probably intentional.

I havent shown the female civilians as I wanted to try and get them painted. But they are truly wonderful.

Pikeman in Dendra armour, He comes with a large shield that fits in a wee slot on the base and the left hand holding the top of  it.

Well now they are on my Eureka list along with the Satyrs and Centaurs

Damn it, i didn't see the priest when I was there. I bought a selection of heroes and the axe men so I can do a royal guard unit. They are top figures.

Does anyone know how Eureka compare with Redoubt Trojan Wars?

I'm pretty sure that Dendra panolpy was only worn by chariot warriors.  It was too heavy and clumsy for infantry.

Eureka are spot on with Redoubt (which I also use).

As for Dendra armour, re-creations show it was fairly mobile. It would have been hard to lug long distances so troops (noble) probably fought from chariots, or used chariots to get them close and then fought on foot. The advantage in a chariot is that you don't need to hold a shield as well, allowing you to brace with one hand while spearing with the other. Same would probably apply to pikes (allows use of both hands on the pike).
