(KICKSTARTER) Hasslefree female fantasy miniatures

Nicely sculpted minis by Kev White. I'm not getting in on this one myself. Too expensive and it's coming up to big bill month in my household.

Absolute garbage. Like the rest of hasslefree its a technically good sculpt let down by a teenage obsession with 'bewbs' and nudity.

Tell us how you really feel, Jetengine. lol

I think 'absolute garbage' is too harsh, like you say the execution is well done, and there are practically clothed versions available. But... yeah. Pinups and nude resin masters sounds like 'swimsuit edition' comics from the 90's. "Like 90's comics, but more so."

Well I would have preferred a squad of fully dressed female Sci-fi troopers as the Kickstarter and I won't personally be backing this one but as it is nearly three times funded in under 2 hours I guess there is quite a demand for this "absolute garbage"  :)

There are naked, cheesecake, and sensibly dressed versions of all the figures.  If you're so mortally offended by nudity or pinup girl dress mode, just ignore them.  Condemning all of White's output as "absolute garbage" on the basis of him selling undressed figures is sheer hyperbole.

I spent the 90's Speculator Boom running a comic shop.  Feel safe in saying that unless they find a way to include dozens of holofoil variants in variable rarities on the packaging (with dealer exclusive versions for large orders, of course) they haven't even come close to the marketing shenanigans of that era.

Gad, I hated that job by the end of it.  Put me off comics for life.

Well the nudity did play a small part in me not backing this also. It seems though that that is the hasslefree thing these days, making everything "skyclad". Probably stems from the fact that he makes the nude part first then clothes.

Not sure what you're saving with this one.

Their catalogue figures average £4.50 each, which is what six for £27 cost anyway.  p&p is extra, so no saving there. The stretch goals are just the opportunity to buy more figures, for £5.00 each, rather than £4.50 (although I think you get an art card as well). No delivery until April 2017.

Overall, this just seems like ordering figures and waiting at least seven and a half months for them.

A few of the figures are nice, and I may pick them up when they get to retail, but not seeing the point of this.

However, it's now 6x funded, so what do I know ;D

I like the winter clothed versions, and that's what I'm after, though I likewise would have preferred more of the sci-fi troopers instead, oh well.

I wont be backing this, because I dont really have a need for female miniatures currently, no matter the amount of clothing.

Regarding the desire for sci-fi soldiers Hasslefree is a business and if enough people contact them saying "we want sci-fi soldiers" I'm sure Kev and co. would be happy to launch another kickstarter :)

The newer figures on their web site are priced at £4.17 + VAT which comes out at £5 so there is a saving built in to the pledges.

Our figures are £5 each, only much older figures are £4.50 (or less) as we don't retroactively raise prices most of the time. A number of these figures will also be at our £6 price point as they'll come with big sprues or be overly complicated (Like Glory or the Jaguar Shaman Boudi).

The 6 pack deal should be around a 10% discount and the 12 pack deal around a 20% discount, not including any possible future stretch goals.

Although this is still ordering something and waiting a long time, that's pretty much the dictionary definition of Kickstarter :)

Without this interest we may never have made half of these as it's a huge commitment of Kev's time for one specific genre.

(And yes, we'd like to do the sci-fi guys too but unfortunately we have yet to find a financially viable solution for them that we are comfortable with)

Don't have much objection to the "pinup" versions, but if I do go for this one it will be the winter figures.  I like the Boudicca that Hasslefree did from the Matt Dixon original and I'm sure they will paint up just as nicely.

A squad of SF females would be fantastic though!

I really struggle with some folk.

I am a degree qualified product designer which entailed studying art and design for five years prior to my degree.

Kev is one of the only sculptors out there who actually looks at the female form and replicates it in a sensitive and delicate way.

"Pin-up" art is nothing new, nor is it tasteless. It's been around for decades. I understand folk maybe not liking this style or approach but to slag it off as being "teenage inspired"? Daft and uninformed.

As for the skyclad versions - I have friends that have bought previous versions of the male figures released this way before so that they can sculpt the outfit on that they want for the miniature as well as convert them more easily in terms of weapon load outs. I think how you look at them is limited only by your own pre-constructed ideas of what they are.

I have seen more of our 'Skyclad' minis sculpted on than painted naked. We have a number of customers who buy them to either practise sculpting or to chop up and make their own character  with as it's much easier to do than chopping up a fully clothed mini if it doesn't have the right clothes you wanted.

(We have a particularly talented Italian customer who makes all kinds of fun creations with them)

If we had a "thumbs up" emoticon here you'd be getting one from me.  Agreed on all counts.
