Derby show game - back with medals, stonking show
« on: September 12, 2016, 10:25:27 AM »
It's Derby World Wargame show in less than three weeks. It starts on 1st October and so did the Battle of Lobositz.

The Ilkley Lads will, in consequence, combine the two by putting on a demo of Lobositz at the show.

I've just finalised the set up and OOB for the battle and The Lads will run through the game over the next couple of weeks to iron out any bugs in the scenario.

I'm going to do a series of posts on that effort so that those unable to go to Castle Donnington (but would like to) will not miss out completely. It might also generate a few comments and questions from those who do and drop by.

Anyway, the link to the first post and a couple of shots of the game.

I hope you like the look of the game.

Best Regards,

James

I've just added a second post detailing the special scenario notes for our re-fight of Lobositz.

In the pic above: A 'military possibility' changes the way the battle is fought. Gessler passes his blunder check and does not attack the sunken road. Following an advance by Prince von Preussen, Gessler brings his cavalry over to the right to support the infantry advance.

Bonjour Olicanalad,

Just been enjoying this.

What a shame I've never been to the Derby show, nor can I attend this year, but maybe 2017.

I hope that you have a great day.

Cheers,

Paul

I'm looking forward to the Derby show very much. Hotel and restaurant for Saturday night booked, information packs done and dusted, everything is packed away and ready for loading. Bet I've forgotten something.

SYW goodness now comes in boxes. All aboard the Ninky Nonk!

Well, it's tomorrow. To get there and set up on time means a 6 am start and the alarm clock is set.

If you are going to the Derby show tomorrow and have any questions at all, please say hi and ask. That is what we are there for. If you would like to play a turn or two, you will be welcome to join the game (limited spaces).

See ya,

...and we came back with medals.

To all that dropped by to say hi, and to everyone who bothered to vote (whoever for) thank you. Derby 2016 was a belting show. A very enjoyable weekend at a well organised and attended show. Thank you Derby!

Good to meet you at last and thanks for the kind words.

Nice - and unflat - game.  Sort of game a good show should have to highlight the best of this hobby visually.  Good job, sir.  Or sirs, as appropriate.
