Don's War of 1812 with really small battallions

I had this mad idea in my last holiday: could I make a wargame just out of ONE Perry-plastic box?
Not just one small army but both parties...

I have a weak spot for small battallions, cause its a very cool starting point for beginners, easy to store and transport...and quick to paint, even the more obscure periods and theaters (sorry you americans)....
And you need just a small table.

Okay, here is my try with it. 40 miniatures equals 4 units per side, with 3 mini battallions and a small skirmisher base.
The idea is from an old wargames illustrated back in 2009 to convert the americans fron the plastic british.
I made it quick and easy: just removing the blanket roll.

Probaly not for the more serious button counter kind...

Have to do a test game, to see if is fun to play with such small units....

Well done. Do you have rules that you are going to use. If not check out Battlefield Game Designs rule set. It is called Red Coats and War Hawks.

This is a very good idea and one I have been experimenting with. I like to paint but painting big units is very slow when you have to collect both sides. Have you looked at the Crusader Games March Attack rules? Its a great way to game big actions with small units.

They have turned out really nicely too.
 

The size of the units has me thinking of DBA.
Maybe there is a period adaptation of those rules somewhere?

Neil Thomas' rules might work well for this - 'One Hour Wargames' or 'Napoleonic Wargaming'.
