A Dungeon Scum mini delve.....
« on: September 12, 2016, 10:16:06 PM »
And lo, it came to pass, in the year of the wolverine (or perhaps the 2643rd year of the 3rd cycle, the sages are confused as to the exact date), that Kapok the Daring, a treasure hunter and bravo, was entrusted by the Regents of the Council of The Free City of Muspelid, with a task and a quest......

...........The finding of the Lost Sword of the Lictors, in the absence of which a great shadow would arise in the East (or mayhap, the West), or a great storm would crash down with might (the sages are unsure of the exact threat but it was deemed perilous indeed).

In his first venture on this quest, Kapok and his trusty varlets cut down a legion of skeletons and after much ado in a labyrinth of ruined rooms, they encountered a furious owlbear and it's gnoll accomplices guarding the shattered Fountain of Ziggurath. Sadly a varlet fell beneath the claws of the Owlbear but after much hacking they prevailed, looting some gold and a mysteriously ornate mace, a deadly sword and a pair of gloves.

One of the varlets was promoted to an elite, while another made it to the status of retainer, earning a name (Akmos the Peculiar).

And so, a not too brilliant picture of the climactic fight between our heroes and the monsters....

I should add that the figures are kitbashed from Fireforge foot sgts, Perry WOTR with bits of Frostgrave and Mordheim (mainly baggage and rope from the latter). the Gnolls are Frostgrave, the Owlbear (I rolled a "clawed horror") from Otherworld and Kapok is GW Aragorn.

By way of detail from Dungeon Scum, Kapok the Daring is a hero, with master of sword, dodge and solve puzzles; he is a treasure hunter whose disdain for the Lords of Muspelid is fuelled by his desire for justice. Presumably he steals from the dead rich to give to the living poor.  Or not. I'll be rolling up a character and skill for the newly minted retainer (he'd earned promotion to elite in a trial game, in which he gamely killed a Lizardmen that had messily killed two of his fellows). The other promotion this delve was a bit of a stretch but the varlet did kill a gnoll and then wounded the Owlbear.
