Pulp Alley - An Afternoon With The Mysterious Mr. Milne
« on: September 17, 2016, 08:35:25 AM »
The League Of Dangerous Minds met again.  Two games were played but I shall only detail the first.

Prologue:  A brilliant chemical engineer named Dr. Soda has invented anew explosive, which he unfortunately named sodamite, more powerful than anything previously known.  He has offered this to the highest bidder but has taken money off both the Germans and the private organisation "Spies Without Borders." (Espions Sans Frontieres).

The sodamite has been dropped off somewhere in an abandoned factory and both organisations have dispatched a team to secure it.

The only known facts are:-
The Germans paid for the explosives with unmarked Marks stuffed in an old seaman's kit bag (minor).
ESF paid for the explosives with Pounds Stirling, hidden in a perambulator (minor).
Dr. Soda has in his employ a league calling themselves the League of Barefoot Men (minor).
Dr. Soda sometimes uses homing chickens to pass on messages (minor).

Both leagues will looking for the crate of sodamite (major).

Early in the game, two morris dancers attempt to secure "Mercury" the homing chicken.  As soon as the chicken heard all the jingling bells, he was running around The Oooooold Deeeead Treeeee.

Firing from the Hip, Captain Charles Ripplejaw, the famous hero and adventurer sprints through the factory complex, fuzzily in the foreground, Heinrich Horst attempts to draw a bead on Ripplejaw.

Another view of Horst.

Another view of Ripplejaw.

Das Rauchen Mann has secured the perambulator and passes it to a follower for safe keeping.

The now wounded Ripplejaw races through the factory in search of the explosives.

Foamy finds and retrieves the seamans bag.

The now seriously wounded Ripplejaw finds and secures the sodamite crate.

Meanwhile Horst assists Leutnant Grueber in searching the body for a clue.

Unbelievably, the morris dancers are still chasing the chicken around a tree, Das Rauchen Mann tries his luck but to no avail.  This is one hard to get chicken.

Great pulp action! What other genre could have a Morris man chasing a chicken round a tree?

Oh, I forgot to add one more picture, this one from the second game.  The Germans desperately try to intervene when two members of the very strange "The Cult" lay into a baby.
