Definately going to have to "borrow" that idea Akula. Great way to hide some of my older, not so modern shamblers. What did you cover the base with to blend them?

who said anything about zombies in ECW3?

You have enough kits sitting there to make the airforce

big H shaped table..... 20' per leg and centre

a bit of terrain making....... 2010 game? LOL

Feel free!

Most of the minis were slots, which i trimmed down, and then stuck in milliput.  Let it harden then use PVA glue to add sand to the base.  Let that dry, then undercoat the entire model with dark grey spray paint - acts as a base coat for the minis (you want them to be dark), and gives you instant tarmac - if you want a muddy field look, use brown instead of grey - will work just as well on the models.  once you've finished painting the minis, dry brush the sand with a lighter grey, and then with a dirty brown.  Job done.

As I said elsewhere Akky, next horde you do have one looking over his shoulder at the back of the pack. Nice and sinister!

Thanks for the info Akula, mine are mixed bases, so the idea of setting them in milliput/green stuff is brilliant. I will probably use an old CD, as I have a few laying around. Now I just need to get a camera that will do macro work, then get some photos posted. :(

I have a suggestion!
You could save money by adding a piece of scenery (barricades, random stuff) to take up space
and so it would make an illusion of more "stuff" so you could maybe 2 bases instead of one with the same number of zeds that you would use to make one! :)

A good idea - bit extreme maybe to suggest the terrain would take up half the space occupied by the zeds, but something i'll bear in mind.

Wow, LOVE them! Now how many 'hit points' to take them out?

If you haven't already, have a look at Max Brooks' World War Z - especially the Battle of Yonkers.

In gaming terms, i reckon a "herd", "horde", call it what you will, soaks up small arms fire, and anyone daft enough to go hand to hand will get swamped.  Artillery, and airstrikes have their limitations, and even a tank would think twice before ploughing into one...what do you do if you get stuck..... :o

In essence its an indestructible mass (short of a mini-fat boy nuke), shambling around the table.  Stay out of its way, and you are fine, come into contact, and ...urk....  ;)

I'm also going to use it as a mobile spawn point for additional roaming zeds.

Can't wait to see the photographs from the Frother's game...

Nice idea Akula. It would look very intimidating in a game. I hadn't really thought about making one massing horde of the living dead other than just having lots of individual figures together. Now you have me thinking about ways to incorporate the herds from Walking Dead into a game.

Cheers.

Hopefully it changes the dynamic of a zombie fight a bit - there is definitely something menacing about a mob that size - its probably actually less of a threat than 46 individually based zeds, but a mix of individual zeds, and an unstoppable herd.... ;)

Walking Dead is one of my favourite Graphic Novels - would strongly recommend it to anyone thinking about zombie games, as it will give lots of inspiration, in the same way that watching Romero's Dawn of the Dead does.
