The First of the Many?
« on: 08 February 2009, 06:12:35 PM »
Well, its been a long time brewing, but here's my first proper foray into the heady world of VSF adventures.

My Lords, Ladies, Gentlemen and visiting Parrot-headed guests, the Court of St James is proud to make known to you Colonel Daniel Daring, D.S.O., Commanding Officer of Her Imperial Majesty's newly formed Rocket Assisted Survey and Reconnaisance Echelon (R.A.R.S.E).

A slight conversion from a Blue Moon Pulp Rocketman, I can't decide whether he needs to have cuffs the same as his collar. Probably does, in fact. Bum.

Comments, criticism, and mockery for not being able to resist a new period all expected and endured with good grace.

He's clearly been trading his service issue Webley for some nonsense American colt. Outrageous!

And his breast pockets on the jacket clearly show it is late issue and should be khaki. Does this man have no decorum what-so-ever?

Besides, it "Needs more Rivets"!

Daniel Daring! Hilarious! Huzzah!

Nice piece of work. I have to say I´m unsure about the cuffs - for style, he´d need them, for sure. On the other hand, think about the times superheroes got sucked into jet engines by their capes. Now imagine what British redcoat uniform cuffs will do with a rocketpack.

lol

Cheers.  :)

The only converting was cutting the raygun off his left hand and slightly rebuilding the thumb, swapping the right hand for a spare one from Hasslefree's Professor Beatty, and greenstuffing some webbing straps on for the jetpack. Oh, and changing the holster from a leftie to a rightie.

Unfortunately, the other two minis in the pack are too 50s scifi to make more of them.  :(

Curses! So, does that mean he'll be a stand alone character or do you have another plan to make a unit?

No plans at present, except for a rather tubby batman, probably called Rigby.

If I could find some rocket troopers in suitable uniforms that would take an appropriate headswap, the might of my R.A.R.S.E. may yet take to the skies.

Another one slipped down the slippery slope of VSF.
Great figure and paint job.

Lovely stuff JB, straight in with a winner!

Got a feeling you're going to build up quite a nifty collection.
Don't!

It was just a matter of time.......... pull yourself away from reality and return to VSF nonsense immediately!  lol

Considering he's got a rocket strapped to his back, I honestly don't think it matters...

A brilliant figure indeed. Is the batman going to have a rocket pack? I can imagine he’d run into difficulties serving drinks in such a situation lol.
I told you so. You damned fools.

Very nice, Sir!
Sad he is missing his squad!
Possibly you can find some useful conversions in the plastic newcomers!

Nice, i always thought Blue Moon figs looked a bit "whatever", but i might have to rethink that.

Not really of use to you, but i'm surprised noone's popped out a bunch of these:

Besides, surely someone of your talent could reproduce the rockets onto some colonial/victorian british.
