looking for an Octopus

Hello,

I am looking for an octopus model / miniature that would be compatible with 28mm scale minis and could fulfil the role of "Giant Octopus" (not to giant though)

I have searched around but nothing is popping out, even my attemps to google for one have failed. I have checked a couple of toyshops but they didnt have anything either.

Does anyone have any info or leads they could share with me?

I could not see an octopus, just the kraken but it is very tempting….

Argsilverson, I have been searching for any cheap sea life models but cannot seem to find an Octopus, I am not sure if they are too much trouble to cast to make into a cheap plastic toy or if I am just not looking in the right places, might need to try and visit a sea life centre soon.

Overlord, thanks for the suggestions but annoyingly I would like a model that is not partially submerged; I want to do an underwater scenario so having the minis half submerged is not as useful to me, but thank you all for the suggestions.

Who would have thought that an octopus would be so illusive in this golden age where you can find nearly any mini you could conceive off for sale

I have had a look through, but it was not too promising, lots of plushie toys and tanker models but only a few plastic models which might do, but none had sizes on them!

I have asked to see how big they are but am not that hopeful that they will do.

I had better keep looking.

When you say

I wonder if a 15mm giant octopus might suffice.

Here is one produced by  Evil Gong Miniatures of Australia:-



To give you an idea of size, it's mounted on a 40mm square base for HOTT.

It's in their Fishman range. East Riding Miniatures sell it in the UK.  They no longer show it on the website by they do still sell it if you drop them an e-mail.

I knew it must be me being rubbish at finding them rather than there not being anything suitable out there.

After a bit more googleing I found a company that make a range of sea life models. They are called Schleich which I think a toy/model shop near me might stock. They do an OK Octopus plus some other bits that could be useful too....

I know, it's a great looking model, but at that price and limited uses I can't justify it.

Chien Sauvage, thanks for the link to schleich I had looked for them online but could only find resellers of thier products.

Can I ask whether you repainted the octopus and whether there are mould lines etc that need work on the model? The look like they are of quiet a high quality and it would be nice to use them as bought.

I am quite taken with the idea of being able to use him without much work as doing a good octopus paint job may be beyond me!
