Many thanks for all the kind words!

That is beyond good. Truly wonderful. Best paint job I have seen for a while. And great presentation too. Love the face, the skin texture, the veins (freehanded?) and the setting. You raise the bar so high.
Thank you! Yes the veins are freehanded painted.

Gorgeous work! How was it to paint? I did a reeeeaaaly old Kev Adams ogre/troll and it was a little of a "turd polishing" exercise, that's a little harsh tbh but the sculpting was very rough indeed. Same deal with the ancient "great goblins/gnolls" that I have. Rough diamonds, incredible character but primitive from a technical standpoint.
This troll was incredibly easy to paint. After I stripped down the paintjob of the previous owner all the details came out.

Cheers,
Daniel

Lovely painting, you've really brought out the character of the mini. I love his expression.

"Hey Hobol why the long face?"

"Because I'm a troll Globlin, because I'm a troll..."
Adventures? Nasty disturbing uncomfortable things! Make you late for dinner!

Those old minis were really excellent, with a lot of personnality, and your painting really bring it to life ! :-*

I've often thought about the older Citadel figures that they seem to indicate a wider life than just spent fighting*, and your painting has brought so much of this out - I'll second the appreciation of the moss on his hammer, the fact that his eyes look tired and bloodshot, and that when I look at the piercings in his arms, I wince a little inside. It's really stunning work. Thanks!

*or, more accurately, spent at the gym, the tailor and the stylist and in front of the mirror, posing about how bad-ass they are. Maybe the old Citadel figures indicate more accurately what must be the strain of a life spent fighting.

This is beautiful. I can't stop staring at it. I mean, the eyes, the vanes on his arms. Fantastic work.

I've often thought about the older Citadel figures that they seem to indicate a wider life than just spent fighting*,

They have life and character and, for my money, show much more artistry in the sculpts. They lack the crisp definition, quality casting and technical advancements of modern miniatures, but frankly that's a price I'm willing to pay most of the time. A well-pushed brush like HvM's is all they need to shine.

Awesome...I know this mini very well as it was one of the fist I bought (back in the day when it was fist released). it was no painted as well as yours...

the completion and the eyes are truly staggering- a thing of beauty, despite his ugliness. and the quality of you photo is breathtaking too.

The Troll painted up FANTASTICALLY...WONDERFUL brushwork & color choices. He looks like he enjoys his drink...possibly to excess. VERY WELL DONE!
