I really like the capybara but I'm curious as to what guinea pigs need rescuing from. Is there a large Peruvian or Bolivian ex-pat community in South Wales? An excellent, environmentally sustainable source of protein are cuy. Not totally without their culinary merits, if prepared properly. Think of them as the quail of the rodent world.

Rescuing from people who have neglected them, and so are often very sick, pregnant, various skin ailments & inbreeding. The lady who runs the rescue found 325 in ONE property earlier in the year, and of course took them in (at mega strain) and had to watch a load of them slowly die for various reasons. Guinea pigs have a very small window where they can breed and successfully give birth, so when many pregnant guinea pigs are found from where they have been kept loose/mixed sex , there is a high chance of death to the mother and/or babies. And of course the usual awful stories of animals abandoned in bin bags etc.

I used to run a guinea pig rescue....so it's obviously close to my heart. Looking forward to see what the total raised will be after Crisis.

Oh, now i get it. Its the guinea pigs that are rescued!
I thought the guinea pigs were like the alpine rescue st. Bernard dogs who do the rescuing (they could bring small water bottles and mobile phones to earthquake victims trapped in small spaces). I dont no if it would work but it would make a great cartoon series.
Your post-apokalypse Squidstarter mini looks good. I will definately have a look at it tomorrow.
