How many modern 28 mm figures do you have??

Please please just give me a Real number.

Guess I can add in what I have.

If you count Vietnam.
About 120 US and 125 VC and NVA.

More modern stuff.
100 plus Black Hawk Down US figures
160 Somalis.

More Arab guys, ISIS and that type 80.
US figures, 80 or so.

That is about all I have painted, add unpainted another 300 or so.

Then there is all the armour and other stuff.
About 45 to 50 of them. In support of the different periods.
Over 30 helicopters, mostly US.
Also tons of terrain.
I sure I missed something but you have a ruff count.

Depends on how anal you are. The TAG Russians are wearing kit that wasn't really introduced until the early 1990s, namely the 6B5 body armour with it's distinctive waist pouches.  Supposedly, it was introduced in the late eighties but there's really not much photographic evidence before the First Chechen Wars and that's what those TAG figures are designed to portray, Russians in the 1990s and early 2000s.

If you want late 1980s Soviets you are better off looking at the Eureka range. Those are designed for mid/late eighties Afghanistan. Mike Bravo is promising a complementary range sometime early next year.

Thanks Carlos, I was worried about missing some detail like that!

.....?

The good thing about LAF is that, generally speaking, when someone asks a question, such as Greg's about TAG Russians, they get an answer.

Your brusque manner, and seeming refusal to engage with posters about why you asked the question, or your own views on the question you posed, made it look like you were going to brag about the size of your own collection.

If so, go ahead, we all like to see photos of shiney toys.....

How's your combat side stroke, Navy SEAL PT?

An Army group in 28mm would be enormous, tens of thousands of minis.  A Corps has about 20,000-30,000 men and an Army has two or three times that, plus extras, so we could reach 100,000 minis, plus vehicles.

I cannot see collecting more than a Company (Battalion, maximum!) in 28mm.

I can't even imagine having a battalion, I can hardly afford a section of troops at the moment!

Well back in the day I believe Luxembourg's entire army ran to about a reinforced battalion equivalent. I remember the headlines about them turning out the entire armed forces in response to a feared invasion of English football hooligans (IIRC it was Spurs playing there in a Euro Cup match)  :). Still, you are probably looking at around 5-600 or so figures, which isn't a small investment. I might have somewhere around that in total but it would be spread across a few time frames and different armies. Nothing beyond about a platoon (+) or company (-) in 28mm  any given army and period at 1-1.

I suppose you could use representative rules to get the armya platoon.

jays wargaming blog who uses boltaction as a mechanism is a beauty, really eye candy but as said cost wise

a platoon of say 30-40 minis would be £75 alone then add in 4 afvs and that is another £100

so 3 platoons and a weapons platoon for a battalion would be circa £700😯😢
I think about platoon cost alone would be a monster.
