Best source for teddy bear fur (thatch)
« on: November 13, 2016, 02:43:43 PM »
I've bought a few samples of fur, and i'm fed up of getting a colour that bears little semblance to the photograph. Does anyone have a trusted source? Whilst I'm by no means sold on the apparent 'standard' colour show here, I think this is what I'd like to be getting for now.

Thanks in advance!

Hobbycraft.

Seconded.

Personally I would paint it and not leave it it's natural colour.

Does anybody have a good source for it in the USA?  I checked Jo-Ann Fabrics, and it seemed so expensive per yard.  I'd hate to spend a lot if I'm just going to cut it up for roofs and wheat fields.

I'm lucky enough to have a local haberdashery (and a couple of local model model shops but I realise that sounds like I'm gloating  :D).

PS: check the weave as well as the colour - the 'lay' of the fibres can be very important.
