A very clean painting job. But the necks are not realistic...

WTF?!?!?!?!  :o

It's a PERFECT painting job, and yes, they are UNDEAD PIRATES!

Completely missed this thread up until now.  Great painting. 8)  The human faces are just brilliant :-*

You're going to need a skeleton ship to go with these! Lovely painting!
If only you knew someone who had one or could build one....   ::)

Well, they are skeletons in general, but they appear still to have leathery skin clinging to their necks.  Which is a bit odd... but probably means their necks won't snap off first time you drop them.

I wonder how they would work if you painted them as if they still had the skin on, but were ... desiccated, is that the word?

I think they work great as skeletons, mind you... just don't think about those necks too much.  The studio paint jobs also treats them as skelies.

I love the Black Scorpion Pirate figs and Deano's painting is stellar!  I'm happy to discover that it's not me.  I can't stand the necks on the skeletal pirates!  Probably was a concession in the sculpt made for casting purposes.  I'd own them all myself already if they had opted for a two part cast with separate heads and a neck "nub" that would have looked like exposed bone.  Still, the neck is the only weak point so they are tempting and Deano's treatment of the models make it harder to say no :) .

Timbers suitably shivered.  They're brilliant.  You should think about commission work  ;)
