Neanderhtal frazetta style minis?
« on: 07 December 2016, 08:21:58 AM »
Hi All,

I want to start a new project 28mm miniatures in a prehistoric/fantasy world, like the old movie "Tygra Fire and Ice"..as a reference but "Stone Age".For my first tribe "the good guys" I want to go with Copplestone, cave minis....but for the "bad guys" I want some kind of Brutal Neanderthal minis in frazetta designs way...any suggestion please? Until know I find the dark art minis as and option, but not idea about the scale comparision with copplestone minis...  ???

Thanks in advance!!!

Did you notice the Picts from the Conan Boxed game?
The quality of the Picts is ace ( good, sharp details ), the box offers 3 different warrior sculpts ( 2 with handweapon, 1 bowman ) and a shaman. They are quite big, but as you're looking for Frazetta style warriors they'll do the job.

Lucid Eye ( Walord, their Savage Core miniatures ) offers some more traditional Neanderthals. Have them and really like them and the are quite big aswell:

Mick Leach is sitting on a pile of greens based off Frazetta's Neanderthals, and they are absolutely perfect. Part of a larger prehistoric project, sadly unreleased. I'll see if I can hunt down the pics. And I'll go bug him abt them again !😉

Duncan Mc Dane: thanks very much for your ideas, I know savage core range...great miniatures but I'm looking something more grotesque! About Conan Picts is one possibility but I prefer find something in meta if is posible!  :D

LeadAsbestos: ;D this can be great! Waiting for your pics!!

What about the Otherworld cavemen? Not a perfect match but pretty good

There are more out there if I can hunt them down. Drew Williams sculpts for Eastern Front Studios, stuck out there in limbo, unproduced!  :'(

Here they are:

I second Lucid Eye's cavemen.  Not quite the style for which you were asking but I think the Cro Mags, Neanderthals, and Amazons look great.

I love those greens above, as well.  Great job.  Wish I could find them in the store.

Those sculpts are fantastic. Someone needs to release them!

Here are the Lucid Eye neanderthals with my paintwork (as used on the product packaging now, in fact!)

Brilliant figures, albeit not quite so 'sub human' / brute looking as the Frazetta paintings...

Ah, YOU painted those!  And did you do the Cro Mags, too?

That Cro Mag leader is one of my all time favorite minis.  I've been trying to emulate your paint job on several instances of that mini.  It turns out okay but not like the Lucid Eye official one.

Did you do the chimps and Amazons, too?

Man, you cost me so much money....

Um, not sure. Possibly the chimps, but I haven't seen the packaging on those. I haven't painted the cro-magnons.

Here are my chimps...  :)

Capt, that is a great gallery! My own apes are here, as a Frostgrave warband:
