Simians for Tribal Primeval
« on: December 17, 2016, 02:39:27 PM »
Trying to get ahead of the game, for once! ;) My Simian troupe for the upcoming Tribal Primeval rules, probably not supported, but easily "counts as" some other primitive human culture.

These boys have been doing some hard work as my Junglegrave warband, along with some other characters, but they will be happy to go back to where they belong, throwing sticks and poo while fighting over antelope carcasses. :)

Excellent! Who makes these?
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

They are also (and were before Warlord) available from Arcane Scenery and Models:

Best thing is they are post-free worldwide (for those of us outside of the UK)!

Tribal: Primeval rules have now been written up and are currently at the graphic designers who is making the publication look pretty  ;)
Plan is for PDF version to be available before New Years, and hopefully lovely printed versions (with our sexy Cro-Magnon cover girl art) a few weeks after that ( Although printers going away on summer holidays might delay that)
Keep an eye on the Mana Press website for news
http://www.manapress.com.au/tribal/

Those simians look great LeadAsbestos. There are rules in TP for early hominids. Homo habilis probably fits your figures the best.
I just saw Antidiluvian games have done greens for early hominids. They look awesome, but appear to be just 1 figure of each each species.....makes for a very small Tribe.

Just a quick Q, as I have only recently become aware of tribal:

The new set is an expansion, and not a stand-alone ruleset, right?

I think it is a stand alone game, but I may be wrong. Second in the series.

I've said it once, and I'll say it again, the paint job on those figs are gorgeous Lead Asbestos!  :-* You should show off some of your terrain as well.

Argonor - Primeval will be (/is) a supplement for Tribal so the basic rules will be in the first Tribal book. Having said that, there are animals rules, a hunting campaign and scenario ideas for playing games in a Prehistoric setting - I reckon you could plug n play a lot of this in whatever ruleset grabs you. I think that's what I would like as a wargamer - gaming ideas that are flexible enough to bridge a variety of genres/settings/rules, that let players to adjust things to their liking. Having said that, I reckon Tribal is a good fun set of rules (with a gaming mechanic that is fun to put your own ideas into).

Thanks - I often tinker with rules/settings like that. I quite like the alternative approach to winning/losing that seems to be one of the core elements of Tribal, though, so I might take the plunge next time I feel that I can spare some cash.

Totally worth it! I bought them on PDF to try 'em out, and I'll be ponying up for a hard copy of each when the time comes.

And then I'm going to spam the $hit out of the boards and the FB group w/ my Trojan War games in hope of getting a proper dedicated supplement for that, with my damn minis in it! ::) ;) :)
