I was thinking about henchmen the other day and I came up with a little house rule. I would like the forum's opinion on my rule.
The basic premise is "leveling up" of henchmen. There seems to be a natural progression within some of the basic soldier list. So I thought it might be a neat idea to allow soldiers to "advance". So I was thinking that a soldier who survived participating in three games could advance to the next rank of his soldier type.
For example:
A Thief who survives three games can be upgraded to a Treasure Hunter free of charge.
A Thug who survives three games can be upgraded to a Man-at-Arms who after three games could become a Knight.
An archer who survives three games can be upgraded to a Tracker who after three games could become a Ranger.
I was thinking that this rule could help warbands with low treasure to still be able to obtain some of the elite soldiers just by playing the game.
I also had thought about a random henchmen table. Ideally it would be used to see what types are available when a wizard is looking to hire a new warband member after initial creation. This wouldn't really help a player, but I think it would be interesting thematically. Roll on the table. "Weird there are no treasure hunters available for hire. There must be a big push within Felstad for some big rumored treasure! I better get my warband moving to see what I can find out.
Thoughts?
