Life day is more accurately Thanksgiving.
As that was the weekend it was aired in the US that year.

Aussies know it (erroneously) as the "christmas" special, even though it is not call one (and we don't have thanksgiving) because it was aired here first around christmas (Certain capital cities got it aired twice).
