Looking good mate

I don't know whether to clad the whole thing or just the visible bits. Cladding everything will protect the blue foam against spray undercoat but might be fiddly for aligning the horizontal reinforcement struts (bbq skewers). It's a big old ship.

Could you maybe just clad the visible bits, and then put on something temporary (masking tape?) to protect the blue foam, when you undercoat?

That's not a bad idea. I did wonder about just painting a thinned down coat of PVA over it too.

How about you, are you back yet?

The main body is now plasticard clad and the landing gear is in (thank you Braz). The engines don't quite line up due to the slight difference in angles that the supports have gone in to the foam, but....(where is the shrug emoti?).

I still need to clad the cockpit in a thinner plasticard and tidy up the landing gear and add some detail. The heat shields and fins need to go on too.

I'm liking that! :-* How are you planning on the inserts in the engines?

Thanks guys. The front baffles will be fruit pouch lids with the tops of superglue tubes cut down. It won't have the distinctive paddle sided shape of the actual quadjumper (such as these things are 'actual') but it looks better than being left blank. So far absolutely everything I've used is recycled, including all the plasticard which is from a bag of scrap and offcuts that I kept from other projects.

I may have accidentally demolished my entry. Whilst trying to use superglue to harden masking tape that was providing the framework to the cockpit it leaked under the plasticard and dissolved the blue foam. The result is a very uneven collection of faces that the plasticard is struggling to adhere to. Bugger.

 :o
Oh, crap!

Is it beyond salvage?
Maybe you could swap the main body part for something else and make a different type of ship that just happens to have thrusters that look like that.
If it really is shot, try and make the best of it and use the thruster parts for scatter scenery or the basis for another build, maybe?

Damn.

As Mason said, could you swap out the central section, or perhaps box in the damaged area?

Darn! :o Hopefully it's salvageable in some way. Maybe rebuild over the damaged section?
On the bright side the rules don't state it has to be flight worthy.
