Dam!....what about taking any foam out of the equation? Build a couple of supports or a bulkhead at either end of the main fuselage?

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Looking at it again this morning with a more pragmatic eye I think it will be salvageable. Close to the event it's too easy to assume the worst. It's not going to look pretty (if it ever was given my lack of plasticard cutting skills) but I think I can do something with it.

Am glad you are still in - would be a shame to see all that hard work go to waste.

If it comes to it, just call it battle damage, or paint it up as a rust bucket - make it work for you

Good news, mate.
I hope you can save the old bird.
 :)

A rust bucket seems like a good option to me, whether it needed salvaging or not.

Thank you for the encouragement, I was tempted to throw it in the bin last night. The cockpit isn't great but it's a lot better than it was. No photos due to gluey fingers!  Just the heat shields and fins to fit and a bit of detailing before a simple paint job.

You could use putty to fill in the dissolved gaps and use a scalpel to trim away pokey out bits. or use carboard cut to shape to create and inner structure.

Just trying to throw some ideas at you man! Hope you sort it out. Looks cool from what I've seen regardless.

It looks much more like the one in the Force Awakens.  After the TIEs blow it up!

I thought I'd better prove that I had done something.  The cockpit irritates me no end but it's done now. Not sure if it will paint up very well. I still need to fill and sand some bits and add a few details.

Hey mate, that looks cracking!

I'd be tempted to dent one of the engines, and give it a seriously rusty paintjob - think a cross between starbug from Red Dwarf and a Reaver from Firefly....

I am really liking the overall look of the ship, mate.
Very distinctive.

I reckon that you have done a sterling job with the rescue and a little rust never hurt anyone.....not in 28mm scale anyway.
 ;) :D

Thanks. You can't see how badly warped the front is from the photo but it'll do. Under the plasticard it's full of melted foam but it's mainly hidden now, just the fact that it doesn't line up that bugs me.

An engine dent isn't a bad idea.
