The last couple of days have been silly busy at work, so I've gotten very little done, but I managed some:


That should give a rough idea of what I'm aiming at. The plan is to cut pieces of 0.5 mm plasticard, scribe it and glue it on the skeleton. I've never tried scribing in this way before, so it's a bit of a wash how it'll end up!

And a quick one to show it all fitting together:


I hope to get the canopy done next. I've had some clear plastic lying about for ages, so I'm excited to finally be using the stuff.

My apologies for being so quiet during the week, work's been busy lately. There's also been precious little time to work on this, but I've gotten a little bit done.

Since last I've scored the middle bit, clad the side-bits, built the engine baffles and gotten the canopy hood semi-built - it's just the structure for now, but after a bit more detailing I'll paint it, and add the glazing afterwards.
I hope, at least. I've no idea how it'll turn out. The hood took up about 50% of the time I've spent on this, so I'm hoping this iteration will work, at least.

As you can see, I also started cutting the wings, but I've been having second thoughts on those. I'm actually considering going for longer wings, a bit like the atmospheric Tie fighters in Rogue One, but I'm far from sure. I'd really appreciate your thoughts!

(As an aside, this is officially the most expensive scratchbuild I've done - I managed to dump most of a bottle of glue over our table, and it took off a good bit of the colour. Going to have to get a new one at some point now. It's only a cheapish one from IKEA, but still, it annoyed me no end. )

I think we've all been there at some time or other. At least it wasn't an antique family heir loom!

cracking scratch building- Pity about the table, I ruined my bedroom carpet with a pot of red paint, so I know the pain.

Agreed! How are you thinking of doing the air intakes and the engine bells?
