Glue for styrene to wood?

Besides epoxy, any other recommended adhesive to adhere plastic (styrene to wood - hard wood dowel in this case)?  A quick drying but not instant glue would be best.  Also, will be gluing plastic to a balsa wood core as part of a different element of the same project.

Depending upon how your attaching it, white or tacky glue is probably your best bet for foam to anything, just rough both sides slightly with a quick sandpaper pass.

For parts that aren't against the styrene, you can safely use superglue and similar.

Another thing that might work is hot glue.

If the plastic has a large surface area PVA works OK if you give it plenty of time to dry, superglue for smaller bits.

Appreciate replies so far.  No foam, "hard" styrene.  And small parts.  15 mm railroad models - taking Peter Pig flat cars and building stock cars and tank cars - also some gondolas but those are much simpler.  Be happy to hear additional options.  And, again, thanks for your replies still to come.

A wild west freight train without stock cars sort of misses the point - it was the train loads of stock cars all those cattle drives were all about and it was the drovers/cowboys that created an awful lot of what leads to Old West scenarios.  Or at least that's my perspective.
