Man Made Monster!
« on: February 21, 2017, 10:11:59 PM »
Reaper Miniature Bones' Flesh Golem. I had been curious about the Bones line from Reaper but reluctant to buy without seeing them in person. My local hobby shop has started to carry them and I am sold! The figs have many attractive features, the chief of which is cost. They run a half to a third of their metal counterparts. Though the minis lack the crisp detail of metal they're still fine figs and the plastic is quite resistant to damage from dropping and bumping in storage. A learning curve is there when throwing paint at them but the price and quality are a great inducement. The other fig is a 25/28mm from RAFM for scale.

Reaper Bones = less quality product aimed for mass market with no specific concern for quality, proper handling/storage and long term durability, IMHO.  At least their pre painted line was discontinued! lol

BTW: Zombicide minis have better polymer quality - both in detail retention and "life expectancy"; and they take paint better! But they character design and sculpting are inconsistent.

Still waiting for real quality plastic minis...  ::)

These are the Frankenstein's Monsters I've painted over the years. The one on the left is a GW Blood Bowl fig, the oldest in my collection. The middle is a Ral Partha fig for Ravenloft. The one on the right is the most recent and a better pic than the one I previously posted. Thanks for the kind words Mweaver . Dinohunterpoa don't hold back, how do you really feel about Bones? lol

GG, that Ravenloft construct is priceless, I liked very much that color scheme, CONGRATULATIONS!

About Bones: In my Gothic Horror collection of scenery I have an old crypt with several of their sarcophagus (77137) and candelabra (77138). Very nice miniatures - specially when buried underground where they belong!  ;)
