Trying 3 different adhesives for the Woodland Scenes snow before I add to the terrain.

Flex Paste vs wood glue vs Hob-e-Tac

Definite winner when it comes to coverage and texture with the flex paste, and the ability to build up layers. Hob-e-Tac comes 2nd, although I'll probably ending up all 3 depending on the effect I'm after.

Best recipe for snow is 1/4 liquitex texture gel or similar product (available from art stores I think it is used for a binder in painting), 1/4 baking soda and 1/2 PVA glue. Mix it all together until it is the consistency of toothpaste. If it is too thick add abit of water. When you apply it to the base heap it on as it will reduce when dryed. It comes up brilliant.

Did consider baking soda, but was concerned about the stability of it. I'd read online about it deteriorating over time. Although I guess if it was sealed it'd be fine.

An update on some terrain - flex paste with cover of snow. Will follow up with Hob-e-Tac to get a 'morning frost' effect.  Flex paste seems to work well to create mounds:

Finished result.  Happy with the overall effect.  Now need to do the rest of the scenery...

Nope, pretty much any craft or even some of the larger Walmart type stores tend to have it. It's normally in a clear container. The brand I've used is Aleen's...it's a rather cheap product and you can get several different snow looks out of it depending upon how you use it with snow flock. If you let it dry tacky, you get the dryer look, hit it while it's still wet and you get the damp/wet snow...mix it in and you get some pretty good slush.
