Latest project: A supervillain called Bloodbath
« on: 08 March 2017, 01:22:07 AM »
Latest project, a repurposed Reaper Bones clay golem painted up as Bloodbath, a brutal supervillain.  A nice, quick, simple project, if not terribly original.

Very good. The blood splatter is impressive.

I will have to look out for that figure.

Thanks!  It's a rather popular figure for use in supers gaming, often getting with a green skin tone and sometimes some hair added or a head swap.  The bones version is extremely cheap and very easy to justify purchasing just for conversions.

Nah.  The face is about right, but you can see his feet and there's nary a pouch on the model.

Nice work. I never really thought of that figure for a supervillain but it is so obviously perfect. Maybe I need to repaint mine now...

I got the same figure with Supers in mind. How do you find the Bones stuff paints up?

Good to know.  I've heard complaints that it can stay tacky    though that seems to be following spray undercoating.

What about for using with GS? Does it take it very well or peel off with the bendiness? I've been thinking about putting gloves, boots and a collar on this guy, maybe a mask as well.

It stays tacky if you spray prime, but it's irrelevant.  You can paint over it if you want and the outer layers won't be tacky, and despite some claims I've seen there's no indication that the "sticky" will somehow seep through to the surface over time.  I've done Bones figs that are as old as it's possible to be without time travel and it's never happened.  And you really don't need a primer coat unless your color scheme simply won't work with that glaring bright white beneath it.

I don't use green stuff, but magicsculp works fine with the stuff.  Look up any of my posts about the Eyes of Gulvoth for examples, there's quite a bit of putty on some of them.
