Bolt Action DAK
« on: March 19, 2017, 07:50:43 PM »
Thanks guys!   8)

Today I added two more to my BA plastic DAK:

I've got a metal DAK motorcycle but the cast isn't all that great unfortunately so I'm a little reluctant to get more.. :?
A Panzer III Ausf J and an Opel Blitz are waiting to get the DAK livery and they will eventually being joined by another PzIIIJ and maybe a IV. I really want an 88 as well.
Infantry-wise I'm going for 2 ten men squads Panzergrenadiere and a ten men squad of Ramcke's Fallschirmjägers. I've got all the parts I need for them here so why not  ;)

Any suggestions what other DAK Must Have I should include??

Cheers

Nice tonal combination!

An SdKfz 222 Scout Car and a Kübelwagen to wallow in Airfix nostalgia would be great.  :D ;)

Very good.

Are they really Bolt Action plastics?

Rubicon make a plastic 'Greif' don't they?? Now that is a Must Have right there  8)

@uvs
The old Heer plastics mainly, with plastic Grenadiers arms and heads. Simple kit bashing  ;)

Omg  :o
I need lots of motorcycles!! The Bolt Action metal one I've got is a really poor cast and I'm reluctant to buy more although I like the sculpt per se.
Plastic would much nicer..but how long before they will be released..????

Personally, I quite like the Black Tree Designs BMW motorcycle, both in the single and sidecar-combination variant. I built a couple over the years (sadly let them go), and stripped and painted up one I got second-hand just a week ago. I'd say the greatest difference is with the heads - I prefer the BTD ones, but you could chop off those and add Warlord plastic parts to make them blend in more. Drivers' goggles might be an issue, though.

In any case, if you are looking for an alternative, I'd say take a look at the BTD one. The price is a bit steep, but I am seriously considering getting some more to do a Recce patrol.

No idea on the timeline, they have the state of play here:http://forum.rubiconmodels.com/index.php?topic=211.0
Developments are logged on the forum (they are good about that).

You could always join the forum and ask.

I've finished the first squad of ten for my Afrikakorps:

Next maybe some of Ramcke's Fallschirmjägers or a Panzer III..
