Hello again all,
Just painted a bunch of GZG minis.
Superb minis all round with some great character.

Just look at some of the faces & you'll see what I mean. I used the baseball cap wearing colonials as security also.
I have more than enough to man my compound.

Enjoy

The colour coded security teams are very nice indeed.

They also look extremely expendable!

Nice - I really see many possibilities in this kind of 15 mm stuff. Your terrain and figures come together nicely. :-*

If I may be as bold though - I think you could easily improve the look of the miniatures by a lot if you gave the bases a quick drysbrush in a lighter colour and then painted the edges in a uniform colour (black/dark brown/whatever).  :)

We sometimes refer to the 'faces and bases' criterium. Essentially the two things that tend to catch peoples attention the most on minis are the faces and bases.

I fully realise that you may be perfectly happy already, and in that case everything is just dandy.  lol

Thanks Grumbledook.
Expendable yes, must get a James Bond mini also now... would look good as goons for a spy scenario also.

Thanks also Dr.Viking.
Thanks also for the tip

, appreciated.

I use 1 & 2 euro cent coins as bases ( for non coms & troops respectively ) as they are very cost effective when compared to plastic or mdf bases & are always readily at hand.
Unfortunately paint simply wears off them very quickly, even if varnish coated
I was thinking about etching them with some kind of acid ( ie. blacken them ) , as sanding them individually would be very time consuming unless I could find a way to grit blast or stone wash them ( all possible ).

Honestly for now I have given up trying to keep paint on them ( at least for now )

I can apply a simple dry brush yes but the natural earth texture ( which is not visible in the pics ) is very nice ( basically a mixture of red earth & fine cork bits ) . The non coms are based on what I tried to depict as wet mud ( still have to apply small puddles. I tend to reason, if it looks right then I leave it at that.

But you're right I give more attention to the mini & less to the base most of the time.

Have a look at these also ..http://castrarunis.blogspot.com.mt/search?q=pax

You could try a chemical blackening agent.

In the UK Carrs is a popular brand, but the normal reseller has just passed them to someone else so I cannot post a link.

A bit of google-fu might help.

Awesome models with a superb paintjob on them. Pictures like these remind me why 15mm SF is such great fun!

Thanks UltraVanilla,
I will look around. I do have an Anti rust acid based chemical which may do the job.

Thanks DivisMal , glad you like them . 15mm are indeed a great scale.
