Anybody Ever Used TSR's Boot Hill For Miniature Gunfights?
« on: April 07, 2017, 01:41:55 AM »
Lads (Pardners?), I'm hoping I might get some input. As the title suggests, I'm curious if any of you have used the old rpg rules from the early 80s (2nd edition) for miniatures gunfights. I keep reading that they are actually a very good skirmish system, and find myself strangely tempted to get me a copy. There's something so retro about it.

I'd greatly appreciate any thoughts or details anyone might provide. Thanks - much obliged - in advance!

There was a guy that used to bring a large saloon board to the 'Nuke-Con' convention in Omaha, Nebraska. It had about twenty miniature characters, barroom battle royale, and I'm pretty sure he used a simple version of Boot Hill. It was quick and pretty fun.
a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humour, reserve, and caprice.

Played the first edition... maybe 30 years ago.  I remember it as being fun, but brutal.  It did not pay to become attached to your characters!

Years ago I played it all the time. Always gave a fun game.
I still have it and now I am thinking I should break it out for
my western gunfights. I actually have never found anything that
I have thought was better.

I appreciate the input, guys! What I might do is get myself a copy along with some of the modules for inspiration and ideas. It might be a good source for rules tweaks and general scenario ideas.
