It came from the River Stir
« on: 08 April 2017, 09:39:09 PM »
I put together the Conan Boardgame model for Thaug and some tentacles (removed and placed on clear acrylic).  To be used as generic waterborne beastie for Mordheim, possibly Necromunda and various dungeon crawls.

A pain in the butt, but worth it to have a large creature - need to fix some of the tentacles (fell off moments after the photos!)

Jaw-droppingly good  :o O really like the shiny finish, gives it a nice, slimy look.

Nice painting - the colour choice will be nicked.

Just Army Painter green spray (army green or some such) and then a few browns, and the tentacle/fleshy bits are...Rose Brown and Salmon Pink (Vallejo).  I had a can of dip which'd gone bad, so I thinned it out and used it anyway (since the beast is grimy).

Holy. That's what you get in boardgames nowadays?! It's a superb mini and the painting works really well on such a large model.

Yeppers.  The biggest thing in the box of course, but Conan shipped at something around 18 lbs. of board game, couple hundred miniatures (most of which are pretty "meh" but there are a few treasures).

Holy Moly, Batman! This is fantastic and a great model, that alone seems to be worth buying the game (well maybe not, but it is a nice ugly monster)!

Do you plan to use it outside of Conan?

I actually have no plans to play Conan (will be selling off the stuff I don't use on eBay I guess).  It's more intended for Mordheim/Necromunda/Dungeon Crawls.

That's superb - idea and execution both. I can see loads of potential for it in skirmish games: you could have a sort of wandering-monster table that might produce successive attacks by tentacles, with a rising chance of the head appearing as the tentacles win or lose combats.

Woa!  I think my lads are going to stay out of Mordheim for the next few weeks, until that fellow has had all he wants for dinner for awhile.

Great work! Impressive paintjob! Love the horrible critter's head.

I love anything with tentacles, and a similar (but far less awesome) project recently by kitbashing a plesiosaur and an octopus model. The tentacle effect alone is worth it on the gaming table, and it's so versatile!

I assembled some watery ruins to playtest this monster...it ate most of my Undead warband.
