Joe, the bright and colorful shading on the spiders almost makes you miss the amazing job you did on their master's face. Stunning.

Tsar -- I love the color and pageantry of the Force Publique!

Excellent entry Tsar, I love the camp ambush narrative along with the excellent painting.

Thanks Mike!

These guys have a history. I originally purchased the spiders to enter into the final round of LPL season 10: Creatures, Beasts, and Monsters. Of course, they never made it in to that season, and neither did i :) Despite that I re-purposed them for the D&D 5th edition introductory adventure for the final Black Spider showdown in the Wave Echo Cave! Sorry for the spoiler to those who haven't played it, but I recommend it highly!

Thanks,
n

Beautiful rich, vibrant blue on those spiders - love it! They're Reaper, right? I have a few waiting for paint (this "waiting" period can end up being a few years long...), and this is some nice inspiration.
The Congo scene is also wonderful - excellent basing, and I love the muddy trouser cuffs on the Colonial types.
A really good matchup - very different miniatures, completely different "eras" (fantasy v. historical), and even the lighting of the photographs is different (bright "sunny" lighting for the Congo, and darker shadows for spiders), BUT, despite the differences, this is a very tough call. Fantastic!

Those are the Reaper Bones giant spiders. Excellent figures that show the awesome value of the large Bones figs.

For inspiration I started with the Blue Cobalt tarantula. It has such psychedelic blues that I had to give it a try. From there I found that there are many blue tarantulas, including the Sun Tiger, which also inspired the above.

Thanks

Thanks, Neldoreth. You're right about the Reaper Bones material for large creatures - I've got a few of the spiders, a few trolls and such, and I have my eye on a dragon or two as well. Thanks for the info about the source inspiration for the colour schemes for these guys - I'll be following up on that! Again, a lovely LPL entry.
