My Assault squad has arrived. It's mostly primed as well so I'll be getting some paint on it some time soon.

"Medicus Animi Ratea Gallus"? If I'm allowed to use actual Latin rather than the GW faux-Latin?
He looks good and yes, you can do whatever you want. I've added him to the gallery. What company (2nd - 9th do you want to be attached to?

That is my story!
And Dreadnought me is progressing along nicely!
lol and good to hear.

Time to start with a Tactical Squad for Space Hulk.
Lovely stuff, the colours really pop. Added to the gallery - what company would you like your guys to be part of?

Rejoice, a new brother joins the ranks of the Lead Legion!
Well done - he's also a most excellent dude (so you're also doing a terminator squad?). The more I see this, the more I'm going to use Rotting Flesh too. Added him to the gallery too.

Nah I dug this one up for shadow wars armageddon. I'm still trying to decide how I will paint the actual scout marines, probably rotting flesh cloth and green armor plates.

So here is some suggested chapter fluff:

The lead legion has a more individualistic streak than the average space marine chapter. This is in part due to the fact that its members are all required and encouraged to study the history and science of warfare in all its forms, both current, historical and Xenos. The chapter encourages open discussion on these topics and the path of the chapter as a whole, in what is called the "great Forum". Because each member specialised in a small number of styles and periods of warfare the chapter is also divided in "sub-fora" Much of the armor and styling of the chapter varies from sub-fora to sub-fora. However, any particular battle squad is not necessarily made up of members of the same forum, instead mixing different specialisations together to capitalise on the variety of skills and tactics they are specialised in. Such a wide and divergent study of warfare does potentially lead to conflict within the chapter, or worse corruption by the foul Xenos or chaos forces. To combat this the chapters chaplains, known as "Moderati", keep a close watch on their particular forum.

Wow, that is cool. If you keep on writing stuff like that, youŽll finally talk me into painting a Space Marine (which I never did before)...  ::)

@YPU
This one is very nice, indeed.

@ Von Lucky
Glad you like him.
I 'm a bit rusty on the background stuff and don't know if there is something special about the 10th? But this would be my favorite one, because at the moment I'm painting republican Romans for the Punic wars and I'm pretending that they're the 10th Legion (despite the cannae disaster  :D ).

Ok, strike that, I found there's only 9 Company's. So I would like to be under the command of Captain Hazels 3rd Coy.

YPU - I liked "Moderati" as a collective noun for the leaders in the chapter. Everything else was a bit naf :P

Michi - I would love to see your take on something Space Marine.

Tellus - the 10th is the scout company. I've added you to the third, and I've added the typical organisation chart (note that not all Space Marine Chapters follow this) in the OP to assist us who are not familar with it:

Hah. I subconciously wrote "laf" originally.

YPU, would you be happy with minor edits to:

The Lead Legion has a more individualistic streak than chapters that follow the strict organisation and doctrines as laid in the Codex Astartes. This is in part due to the Legion's space marines are required from their induction into the chapter of studying the history and science of warfare in all its forms, both current, historical and Xenos. The chapter encourages open discussion on these topics and the path of the chapter as a whole, in what is called the Great Forum. Because each member specialises in a small number of styles and periods of warfare the chapter is also divided into "sub-fora". Much of the armor and styling of the chapter varies between sub-fora. To prevent this from occuring, the chapter leaders (known collectively as the Moderati) keep a close watch over the chapter's debates and discussions.

?

I also found about 10 of these guys (glued to either the torsos or legs of the old GW skeletons... it was the 90s):

And a few extra marine characters to make up everything for the company command. I might even throw in a Rhino. This is all slow-burn, want to get 4-5 guys done first.

Works for me, this whole thing is a collaborative effort, and I would hope that by the time a couple of members have edited added to and refined to my first draft of an idea it would be different from that first draft, and superior.

Cool - didn't want to offend.

And we know that every now and then the Moderati have to step in. I'm just embarrassed by the time the Lead Legion fought in the Majunche IV campaign with the Space Wolves. They told of their drinking games (http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Fenrisian_Ale), we told of our debates that get sometimes locked down. lol

Don't know if it has been already discussed by thought to post anyways... You the lot in charge decide whether appropriate or not for this project.

Pictured three minis from the aeons old GW game Star Fleet (or something like that). Perfect vessels for the Lead Legion fleet, IMHO. The left and right one have no names yet, but I thought to name the middle one as Vetus Plumbum (Old Lead) :)

edit: pic is in LAF gallery, didn't manage to link it properly...

I haven't seen the ships - but there's no reason the Lead Legion can't expand to Epic, Space Hulk, etc. Heck you could even throw a shoulder pad on a Deathwatch guy.

I am making progress on my assault squad (still missing heads and backpacks).  Man, painting 10 models sucks, and I've forgotten how much I dislike painting marines.
