Here we go with the first painted miniature. Perhaps my favorit miniature from the shown unpainted lot.

Marina Semenova is a cold and beautiful russian noblewoman who appears in the Corto Maltese comics. There she has some business in Manchuria and plays one of the main roles in the "Corto Maltese in Siberia" book. I was immediately thinking of her seeing this lovely Bob Murch sculpt. Okay, I've changed the hair color from blond to black but that's only due to the color of her hat and fur cloack.

If you interested to see how the lady looks in the Corto maltese comics, here I've found a nice Youtube video featuring some shots with her from the comics:

Lovely figure Alex :-*I heartily approve; she looks how I imagine my forebears would look, however they were probably much more prosaic. I do have an early 20th century newspaper article about my great grandfather that you might be interested in? All about his escape from The gulags into China and beyond real ripping yarns stuff!

Of course, I'm interested, Guy! I didn't know your forebears came from Russia. So maybe I can implement one of the older Black Wolves in my project  :) I'll contact you via PM.

Thanks, I'm quite pleased with how the blue of the cloack turned out at the end.

Brilliant - that Corto tale has loads of characters and plenty of settings, and the Duchess is a splendid example.  8) 8) 8)

Ahh Prof. a stunning paint of a lovely figure. Once again you set the standards.
And after so many years you start to inspire!

The duchess you made is excellent, though I would think of here as a hybrid between this figure and the smoking lady by Copplestone!
