Fistful of Rust (update 26.08.13)
« on: 10 June 2011, 07:37:05 AM »
I recently found a copy of Borderlands in the bargain bin, and was rather intrigued by the comic style of the graphics. So I clearly had to start my own Borderlands table (although I'm already deviating from the original concept...)

As I didn't want to use the old Pardulon shanties again, I started designing some new ones, mainly from sheet lead, sheet copper and wood with a bit of Milliput. Here are the first few pieces:

The parts are a lot more versatile than the old system. I think there are about 12-15 different pieces, most of which can be used as either wall, floor or ceiling.

In the following pictures, I used my old industrial board (pictures can be found in a different thread around here as well) to mock up a small settlement:

I am not entirely certain how I'll do the rocks on the new board, as I want to recreate the comic style of the game, but don't really want to paint all the cracks. I have made a test piece from styrofoam, but am not entirely convinced (no picture as of yet, I'll post one this weekend).

And I also ventured into 3D designing on the computer to create some of the accessories:

I hope to have a 'printout' of the smaller one in my hands by next week.

C&C, please?

The quality of the builds is as usual simply great, but the painting is more than doing it for me. Simply excellent. I'd also like to see these become part of your range. Especially the one with the curtain in the first photo. :D

Absolutely fantastic!  The paint job is beautiful, the fourth picture in particular is incredible: its straight out of the game.

I really loved the look and feel of Borderlands, although the gameplay was a bit too repetitive for my tastes.

You definitely need a few Cl4ptr4aps from Black Cat Bases though:

Seconded.  Everything that I have bought from Pardulon has been fantastic and a dream to assemble.  Some easy assemble multi-storey shanties are exactly what I am looking for for my PA stuff.

Thanks, people! Most things will be available from my webshop some time. There are also plans for more junkyard-style terrain, windmills and several other features. If the container turns out good, I'll even make more technical stuff in 3D CAD (maybe even my own Claptrap). It's not really faster than scratchbuilding with polystyrene, but I enjoyed it, and certain things I simply cannot do with a knife and ruler :)

The painting was not entirely my doing - my girlfried did a good part and came up with a few brilliant ideas on how to achiece the comic look.

These guys have some very borderlandish terrain: http://daemonscape.co.uk/contents/en-uk/d3.html
I know your going scratchbuild the lot but may give you some ideas, also the windmills should ideally be larger than those.
