Looking to weather some Orc armour and was wondering if anyone has any painting tips, preferably with acrylics rather than fancy paints
On the lookout for 10mm Magister Militum Fantasy figures, halflings and woodelves in particular

nothing fancy, just used the rust and corrosion paints by GW.

basic metal shade, wash with brown ink, then apply Typhus Corrosion then apply light drybrush of Rysa Rust followed by a few highlights of the metal colour.

Check out the GW tutorials for the above paints on Youtube.

You can see some of my skellie weapons here using the above:

The lifecolor rust and dust set also works really well.  It’s acrylic, highly pigmented, dries fast, and is very matt.  It dilutes nicely to get stains around bolts etc.

You can just start with reddish brown, then apply metal highlights.

This is one of Reaper's plastic minis that I painted using Vallejo acrylics.

I first painted the whole thing with VMS Oily Steel, and then added several washes of Vallejo Game Effects rust paints — they're called Dry Rust (the dark brown) and Rust (the orange). Before they cured completely, I gave the whole thing a brush down with an empty brush, which took the rust effects off the highlights. Or alternately, you can paint the rust effects on over a chocolate brown base coat, and then give the cured rust a dry-brush with Gunmetal and then (very lightly) Oily Steel.

You can slop the rust effects paint on straight from the bottle, but I find it gives better results if you apply it in several thinnish washes. The orange rust especially needs to be well thinned, or else it can be very dominant.

Loads of options here thanks, just need to decide which one produces the least layers, the minis are quite small and zi don't want to layer up too thick

How small?

I've done rust on 10mm figs by painting a base coat of leadbelcher/gunmetal, giving it a wash of old Citadel flesh wash ink, then an edge highlight of pure silver.

Citadel ink is a thing of the past, but CdA do a reasonable substitute.
