I am really enjoying this thread, so full of inspirational stuff. I love your zombies, a great combination of good models, wich I have seen before, but yours are surely the best I have seen so far!

recently on Channel 4, there was a thing on called Gods and Monsters that covered the mythology and folklore of England... the frankly embarrassing to watch bits with Tony Robinson aside, it had some interesting nuggets of information covering fairies, plague and possession and one such nugget was the Munich Manual... a 15th Century grimoire written in Latin that covered Necromancy and Demonology... and none were more fluent in Latin than the Church...

bit of a quickie to be honest, had done the cassock black a while back, but was put off with yet another black and white figure for this project, so put it to one side... the Munich Manual gave this a nudge and then I saw a purple one on the Warlord forums and as that was still ecumencial enough for me and not black, I got motivated with this chap again...

the figure had a hefty integral base which I couldn't be bothered to file down, nor could I be bothered to cut the slotta and sink it down... as the devout trooper started me on the uneven moorland look, I thought that would work quite nicely here and I added a fallen gravestone to the base as something a bit different...

annoyingly the grass doesn't seem to work, did everything the same as the others in this range, but it doesn't look right to me... very annoying...

It's been threshed by the Devil's tail, of course it looks different!

I really dont quite understand why companies sometimes do an integral base that is soooooo big it doubles or trebles the metal content of the figure! then complain metal prices are high?

Sometimes it works but mostly we like to base in our own style dont we?

WIP is here

and it's done... as much as I can do with it really... not 100% happy the thatch, had to avoid a too yellow/brown, so ended up using a Vallejo Green Grey and Green Ochre, I kind of like the finish, it has a dirty, old look, and as a first attempt at thatch, hey...

blurb is on the blog if you want details, otherwise it's just pics...   :D

That looks great, I like the candle at the top of the ladder with the little smudge of smoke above it.

The thatch looks perfect, your towel thatch came out much neater and tidier than mine ever does!

A job VERY WELL DONE!

I really like the way you have concealed the "joint" of the tatched roof, by making the upper part follow the woodwork, but the tatch separation appearing lower.

Until I saw the exposed interior, I did believe it was a single piece.  o_o

And the color turned out to be very effective too.

Thanks for sharing.
