It's kind f bittersweet really. Collecting a genestealer cult was something of a challenge and also something of a competition. Finding them cheap and getting them before someone else. Now that they bring these new ones out there will be a new generation of stealer cult fans, which kind of seems... Wrong?
I think it was one of the big things that separated oldhammer lovers from regular GW folk.
And on the plus side. They look awesome and I wants them.  lol

I just wonder what effect this release will have on the prices of the old metal hybrids.

They'll probably even more expensive as a result, if past experiences are anything to go by...  :?
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

True. Glad I already have a patriarch on the throne with magus, among all the other cult bits I have. Best be painting them I guess.

Ah yes; I had that patriarch (sans throne), but I foolishly traded it away for some space marine parts more than a decade ago... Lovely sculpt!

Luckily, I was able to score the old running patriarch a couple of weeks ago on Ebay for pretty cheap (GBP 16,- I believe), compared to other offerings of the same miniature. Too bad that I found out it was missing a claw arm when I unpacked it (in hindsight, the reason it was so cheap, obviously).

No biggie though; it should be replaced pretty easily, and I think the running version is more appropriate for gaming anyway.

You're right though; we should start painting our old metal soon, now the cults are on the rise... :D

If pre-orders go up soon that'll tie in quite nicely with GW's current competition to win £2K+ of stuff (place an order for £50 to enter, hoping pre-orders count!).

Looks like a really nice set of models. I'm not expecting GW to expand on it though. If they do that'll be great but if it's just a stand alone game I'm fine with that. I'm not in the **** GW if they don't release expansions and further models camp.

I'm getting 2 boxes. First GW purchase in a long time, but the nostalgia is strong.  lol

I'm thinking exactly what many of you are saying. This really hit me in the nostalgia. I'm really impressed with not only the fact that GW were willing to redo these guys,  but you can tell they really paid attention to the detail and the idea behind the cult and totally captured the original feel while giving it an updated aesthetic that fits with the background.

The mining suits and tools are just so cool. I'm already thinking of how I'm going to take a batch of the 4th generation cultists and make uninfected human miners and space ship salvage crew out of them.

And then use them to play out a full campaign from first purestrain contact through full blown cult uprising. I'll also be adding my friends MP forces and my own penitents into the mix.

So many cool possibilities with these models.

I also just picked up that cool looking cult van from Wargames Exclusive and the model is really nice. Clean crisp casting and in only a few parts. I'm hoping to convert it to a cult van soon...

Props to GW. With this and Horus Heresy they are really tapping into their background and pulling off some incredible releases in models.

You know what the first expansion to this would be... During the mining operation, miners uncovered a race of previously thought extinct, and written out of the history books, humanoids. Small in stature and beardy of face. Deathwatch Overkill: survival of the Squat.

I suppose we won't know until the box set appears, but have these figures had the usual GW scalecreep factor applied?

Are there going to be bands of plastic cultists standing head and shoulders above their metal counterparts? Are the Gods of Chaos that cruel o_o

Tyranids dude! TYRANIDS! The Chaos Gods ain't got shit on the Tyranids....

And I suppose considering their all mutants maybe it won't matter too much? But I suspect they will be the same size as their current plastic IG and Cultists!

The thing about the second generation is that they only seem a bit more human.
