(AP 2016) The Luwians and Friends and Apes and...
« on: 16 June 2016, 04:19:09 AM »

In the interest of getting started, here is the pic of what I hope to complete w/ my AP16 project: The Luwian Confederacy, or Sea Peoples, army, for Lion Rampant, SAGA, 7th Voyage, etc. (Basically, any game I can get in!) 12 man units usually, with a few command bases, 2 chariots ea w/ 2 runners as wound markers, and a Reaper Hercules to lead the gang when they sack Troy and abduct Hesione after King Laomedon refuses to pay him the stallions he was owed.  :)

As the units get completed, they will also fill a role in these, my other 2 forces for Achaean Lion Rampant, each of which has a Fierce Foot unit played by a different Sea People tribe
The Trojans force:

and the Achaean force:

I'll try to fill in the missing troops for these 2 forces along the way, and by the end of this, have 3 playable forces to choose from.

Some notes that may or may not be of interest:

The humble beginnings of my Troy project:

My current favorite minis:
http://us-store.warlordgames.com/collections/sea-peoples
A bit slender and short compared to Foundry and BTD, but Gorgeous! :-* If I was starting over, I'd use only Cutting Edge. Don't really know why, but I love 'em. Right in scale w/ the Newline minis.

Minis in the armies are Foundry, BTD, Newline, Redoubt, Cutting Edge and North Star, with some characters from Bronze Age, Crocodile, Reaper, Citadel, and Gripping Beast.

Sea people - one of my favourites.
Are there a couple of Shardana in the metal block on the left of the first picture?
Best of luck with the painting.  8) 8) 8)

Quick on the off with this one  8)

I've always liked the Foundry Sea Peoples as they were quite different to anything I'd seen when I first saw them.

cheers

Awsome!. I'll follow this thread with interest.

I am very tempted to accept the challenge and finish my own bronze age's project.

Good luck!

Well, this happened.  :)

I was happily getting my Trojan force work done, prepping for a game that may or may not get played some day. And then I met a fellow, an actual person, who plays wargames! Here, just a few minutes from me. Discovered me on a forum, made contact, we went and had a few beers, kind of a first date  ::), and he wants to get some gaming going. Now I haven't had an actual game with a 100% willing participant in 7 or so years. My son used to play when he was 5  ;), and I've guilted my long-suffering wife into playing SAGA once, and she claimed it was "Fun", but I  know the truth...

So when my new friend suggested Frostgrave, a game I don't give a shit about, I eagerly said YES!, got the damn book, and painted this group. We are playing in jungle ruins, and this little warband came together in my brain. (after a little speed-bump where I prepped, partially painted, and sold an Oldhammer Pan Tang warband!  ::))

So there are more, thanks to a purchase from a fellow LAFer, plus a "warhound" for this gang, plus a super-secret Guest Star, PLUS all the other Lucid Eye prehistorics that I've collected. I may go and re-name the project, or I may just keep things the way they are to show progress. AND I'm going to try to steer us to play 7th Voyage, but that is another matter...

I have no shame in my "failure". The game's the thing.  :D
