Ancient Spanish army showcase
« on: March 30, 2024, 08:38:47 PM »
I've recently been photographing my 28mm Ancient Spanish army.  I started work on this over 20 years ago with the handful of miniatures that were available at the time (Newline, Essex, old Dave Gallagher Foundry sculpts) and expanded it with glut of new models (Crusader, First Corps/ Curteys, Foundry by Mark Copplestone etc) that appeared in the wake of Warhammer Ancient Battles.

Here's a few selected shots taken in front of a Jon Hodgson Backdrop - you can see the full article over at: https://mogsymakes.net/2024/03/30/army-showcase-28mm-ancient-spanish/

Fantastic James  :-* :-* :-*

This is one of those "just in the nick of time" posts for me as I'm putting together a Carthaginian army and needed some inspiration for the Spanish!  :)

Beautiful figures and pics! I looked through the ones on the blog too, and it’s interesting reading how you put the collection together over time. The ancient Iberians make a really interesting army. Maybe overlooked at times, due to more famous armies like the Carthaginians and Romans stomping back and forth through their territory, but I imagine in games set on home ground the Iberians could be fun to play.

They're not just fun to play, they can be deadly too.

Gorgeous looking force.  A lot of different miniatures and some fantastic shields.

superb figures.   Which manufacturer do you prefer ?   I notice no V and V Iberians.  I have their small set and love them.

Thank you. My favourites are probably Foundry for cavalry and caetrati, Crusader for scutarii and Gripping Beast for heroes. I had no idea that V and V did Iberians!

Very pretty units, I really like the hand painted shields as well as the base.
