Almost done now. Back to work tomorrow and at some point Victrix new saxons are going to arrive in my mailbox, so I've been wanting to get as much done as possible on the greeks.

This batch features another eight warrior-level hoplites, same as the others, plus another iteration of warlord. I wanted something a little more neutral than the obvious Leonidas figure, so I converted a figure from Mortal Gods that my local dealer had in stock. Victrix head, spear and shield.

Very nice mate, and love the basing
I thought I could see the light at the end of the tunnel … but it was just some sod with a torch bringing me more work!

Beautiful work! The blue palette you are using for your army looks great with the bronze armour and is a nice change from the stereotypical red that hoplites often get.

I think that deep blue shade doesn’t get used on hoplites much because in ancient times Woad was the only choice in blue dyes and it tends to be a more wish washy, greyish colour. In a more fantastical subject it looks great though!

Haha, no one should come into my project logs expecting historical correctness :)

And the muster is done for now. Now to play the army a bit and see how I like it. Maybe we come back and add some ranged.

Last eight Warrior hoplites (I promise, it is not just the same photo a third time)

And the whole force on my Rohan display board. As you can see the last warlord got a smaller base, making him a bit easier to transport.

What do you think?

Beautiful work! Hopefully they’ll be fun to play and will justify some expansions.

Splendid work. The big army shot is just chef's kiss.

Thank you everyone! I really enjoyed this little project, and it is a good example of how to build a SAGA force from a single Victrix kit. There's a couple of factions where that works.

I am glad so many like the look of the bases. In brief, the basing for this force uses two sets of bits from Gamer's Grass, some bark chips for larger rocks, and then Krautcover's Soils of Sparta flock blend. The flock blends give such a varied cover that I only needed a few little tufts here and there. I used a mix of dry and green for that Mediterranean look.

Will return to this thread once the Greeks get some reinforcements, or I start that Dacian force I mentioned. For now I have confirmation that my Victrix Saxons are on their way, and I also have an idea to go back to an old Oathmark project and restart it for SAGA Age of Magic.
