Unlike a Kickstarter where the project taking off depends on the funding target being reached, Nick's Nickstarter is more of s preorder system but with freebies if money goals are reached.

There have been two so far for the original release and then for the Thaw of the Lich Lord, and each has been accompanied by the release of a plastic box set, first the Frostgrave Soldiers then Cultists.

The next Nickstarter will be for Into the Breeding Pits and will be accompanied by the release of plastic Gnolls set.

There has been no confirmation of what box set if any will accompany Forgotten Pact. Here's hoping its barbarians with parts to convert minis into demons ie heads and arms like the undead parts in the cultists box.

Hmm, I have a ridden warbear and stag coming, already have one ridden warcat and thinking of ordering another.
Do I really need a ridden wooly rhino?

Damn right I do!

Make it happen!

So is the game still essentially about Wizards or does this take it more into a man to man combat system? Or just another set of henchmen for a wizard instead of Cultists and Soldiers?

I'd imagine it will be the same formula, wizards and henchmen. Based on the cover that's some kind of tribalistic shaman so I'd look at Siberian natives for inspiration.

From what little I've managed to glean, it's a supplement in the same way that Thaw and Sellsword were. It's set in the Northern part of the City which is the home to the 'Northmen' pictured in the artwork. There there will be  new scenarios for things like Deamonic temples to search thru and ransack as well as new treasure charts, soldier types, wandering monsters and (most interestingly) new spells, which would seem to indicate that the 'Northmen" can be played as a separate Wizard type and Faction/Warband.

It's all looking really good, adding yet more depth to the system without changing anything. I'm excited.

I was assuming that "new spells" just meant a few specialist spells to be added to existing schools, not a whole new school for northmen. The same way that Thaw added new Necromancer and Witch spells.

It could well be @Chaoschild, I'm just drawing conclusions from various little bits of information and conversations with friends. And actually thinking about it that would make more sense. Perhaps over the next few expansions we'll see a similar new spell for each of the existing 'schools' of Wizardry. That would only take 4 more expansions with 2 spells in each (like T.o. L. L.), and 2 of those are already in the pipeline.

My reason for thinking it'll be a new school is that at the moment each 'school' of wizardry has 8 spells with a formula for choosing from those 8, and all 8 spells are contained nicely in the core rule book. Adding new spells to these 'schools' would mean an amendment to the main rules and require a separate sheet/book or similar. But you are more than likely correct.

I'm sure I've seen somewhere that this supplement will expand on summoners rather than provide a new school.

The Witch school already includes spells I'd categorise as shamanistic - animal companion/control & familiar. Tribal shamans are normally depicted as being able to tap into ancestor spirits - perhaps as a means to power up the wizard through access to additional spells or by acting as a power reservoir a.k.a. Like an orb of power. This bears similarities to summoning daemons - especially if you get access to daemons with their own spells/powers??

Likewise I recall someone mentioning 'Northern Daemons' so it would seem to be more and more like T.o.L.L.
I certainly hope so as that is an excellent supplement. It's just a shame we have to wait until November 17th ... I want it now!

The Witch School is one of my favourites - this may just be the push I need to get that Shamanistic warband started!!
